Several area organizations will be working to stock the Madelia Food Shelf this summer during the Madelia Park Days Grand Parade on Friday, July 12th, starting at 7 p.m. Parade attendees are invited to bring non-perishable food items and/or personal care items along to the parade. Watch for Stock the Shelf volunteers pushing Sunshine Foods shopping carts and hand them your donation. The volunteers collecting for the Madelia Food Shelf will be in the first part of the parade, after the Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic float. Cash donations will also be accepted.

What items are needed at the Madelia Food Shelf? Canned meats and vegetables, tomato sauce, soups, hot and cold cereal, spices, cooking oil, condiments, rice and pasta, cleaning supplies, and other personal care items like shampoo, toothpaste and toilet paper.

The Stock the Shelf campaign is a project of the Madelia Community Based Collaborative (MCBC). Corporate sponsors include: Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic, Sunshine Foods, the College of Allied Health & Nursing from Minnesota State University-Mankato, and University of Minnesota Extension.
