Charitable Gift Annuities

Gifts That Pay Your Income

There’s a way for you to support Madelia Health Foundation and feel confident that you have dependable income in your retirement years. You can do this with a charitable gift annuity.

With a charitable gift annuity you agree to make a gift to Madelia Health Foundation and we, in return, agree to pay you (and someone else, if you choose) a fixed amount each year for the rest of your life. The balance is used to support our work.

This type of donation can provide you with regular payments for life and allow Madelia Health Foundation to further our mission. Advantages of a CGA include:

  • Receive fixed payments to you or another annuitant you designate for life
  • Receive a charitable income tax deduction for the charitable gift portion of the annuity
  • Benefit from payments that may be partially tax-free

You can also qualify for a variety of tax benefits, including a federal income tax charitable deduction if you itemize.

Gifts That Pay

Your payments depend on your age at the time of the donation. If you are younger than 60, we recommend that you learn more about your options. Click the button below to learn more.

An Example of How It Works

Walter, 66, and Meredith, 65, want to make a contribution to Madelia Health Foundation but they also want to ensure that they have dependable income during their retirement years. They establish a $20,000 charitable gift annuity.

Based on their ages, they will receive a payment rate of 3.9%, which means that they will receive $780 each year for the remainder of their lives. They’re also eligible for a federal income tax charitable deduction of $4,878* when they itemize. Finally, they know that after their lifetimes, the remaining amount will be used to support our mission.

*Based on a 1.2% charitable midterm federal rate. Deductions and calculations will vary depending on your personal circumstances.

  • You leave a lasting legacy to be remembered
  • You lessen the burden of taxes on your family
  • You may receive estate tax savings
How do I make a bequest?

A bequest is one of the easiest gifts to make. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to family, friends or Madelia Health Foundation as part of your estate plan.

What are my options?

A bequest can be made in several ways:

  • You can gift a specific dollar amount or asset
  • You can gift a percentage of your estate
  • You can gift from the balance or residue of your estate
  • You can make a beneficiary designation of certain assets
Example of Language for Bequests in Wills

Please tell us if you have named Madelia Health Foundation in your will. We would love the opportunity to share our appreciation.

If you are considering this option, an example of bequest language for the Madelia Health Foundation is: “I, (name) give, devise and bequeath to the Madelia Health Foundation (written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property) for its unrestricted (without conditions attached) use and purpose.”
