The Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic (MCHC) announces the addition of Sarah Martinson to their Clinic Team. Martinson is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). A welcome party for Martinson will be hosted by MCHC on Wednesday, August 28th at Sweet! Indeed in Madelia from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Stop in and say hello!

A PMHNP is responsible for diagnosing mental illness, interpreting data and facilitating treatment planning, including prescribing medication when needed. Martinson has extensive experience in mental health diagnostic assessments, psychiatric medication consultations and management, behavioral health care coordination and services for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

Martinson earned her master of science in nursing from the College of St. Scholastica Graduate Nursing Program in Duluth. She also has a bachelor of science in nursing from Presentation College in Fairmont. She worked previously in Fairmont as a PMHNP and as an instructor at Presentation College. Martinson is returning to work at MCHC – before going back to college for her masters degree, she was a registered nurse at the facility for several years.

“Providing patient care for psychiatric and mental health services is my passion and professional dedication, said Martinson.

“In rural areas, there continues to be significant need and demand for greater mental health services and resources. This limited access can create significant barriers that negatively impact mental and physical health and stability. Increasing mental health services in our rural communities has always been and continues to be an essential objective and focus in my practice. It is my life-long goal and devotion to provide comprehensive services and treatment using a holistic approach for the promotion of optimal mental health and well-being,” said Martinson.

MCHC is thrilled to bring Martinson back to Madelia in this new capacity. Martinson lives near Fairmont with her husband and two children. She enjoys gardening, outdoor activities and sports, traveling and spending time with her family
