Madelia Health is holding an Open House for the public at the Madelia Health Ambulance Base to celebrate Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week on Thursday, May 20th. The open house will be from 4 to 6 p.m., with presentations and a ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. There will be building tours, ambulance demonstrations, and door prizes at the event. Appetizers will be served. Attendees are asked to socially distance when inside the building and please wear a mask. The Madelia Ambulance Base is located at 106 Drew Ave. S.E. in Madelia, just across from the Madelia Health hospital and clinic.

The base houses both rigs for the Madelia Ambulance Service and there is a third bay for Madelia Health storage. In addition, the building includes bedrooms, a kitchen, living/meeting room and offices used by on-call caregivers and ambulance personnel for overnight shifts. Most construction on the facility was done by local contractors and businesses. Nick Pietsch was the General Contractor and many supplies were purchased from the Design Home Center of Madelia. This project was fully funded by Madelia Health, formerly Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic, and did not affect any local taxes.
