Madelia Health Named to Top 20 Critical Access Hospital List

Madelia Health (formerly Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic) was again named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) in the United States for Patient Perspective. This was determined through surveys conducted by the Chartis Center for Rural Health and announced by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). Madelia Health was the only Minnesota Critical Access Hospital to be recognized in this category.

Madelia Health was recognized for achieving success in the Patient Perspective index, a rating of performance ranked across 10 domains of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS). HCAHPS (pronounced “H-caps”) is a survey instrument and data collection method for measuring patients’ perceptions of their hospital experience. The surveys are distributed and tabulated by the Chartis Group to produce comparable data that allows objective and meaningful comparisons between hospitals.

“Our amazing caregivers and providers can take pride in the recognition that this prestigious award gives to Madelia Health,” said Jeff Mengenhausen, CEO. “The outstanding care given to our patients is appreciated in the communities we serve.”

An awards ceremony will be held during NRHA’s Critical Access Hospital Conference in September in Kansas City, Mo. NRHA is a nonprofit organization working to improve the health and wellbeing of rural Americans and providing leadership on rural health issues through advocacy, communications, education and research.
