Madelia Health Foundation “Ask for Anything” Grant Recipients
Each year the Madelia Health Foundation awards two internal grant requests as part of our “Ask for Anything Grant” round. These grants allow Madelia Health departments to submit applications for a piece of equipment or training that directly improves patient experience and demonstrates how the request can make the department better caregivers. The Madelia Health leadership team reviews and votes on the grant applications and two departments are selected to receive funding for their grant request.
The 2021 grants were awarded to the Radiology Department and the Physical and Occupational Therapy Department.
The Radiology Department received a new blanket warmer:
“The room temperature for the CT scanner needs to remain cooler to support the equipment used for diagnostic imaging,” shared Melissa Hunt, Radiology Manager. “So, our patients are often cold which doesn’t make for a very pleasant experience. The blanket warmer does just as its name states, it warms the blanket to a comforting temperature for a patient during a procedure. Using the blanket can also minimize patient movement during a scan.”
The Physical and Occupational Therapy Department received new strength equipment:
“Much of the work we do in physical therapy is with athletes or patients who have physically demanding work and they need to regain strength following an injury,” said Jamie Hitchcock, Physical Therapy Manager. “The PT department previously had limited equipment to measure strength progression. With the new equipment, we have measured and accurate weights to easily adjust resistance to match the demands of the patient’s sport or work.”
Each piece of equipment has been put to use and is seen as a valuable addition to the services provided by these departments within Madelia Health.
“The Foundation was proud to support these additional pieces of equipment as they truly do signify an enhancement to the patient experience,” said Sara Schauer, Foundation Executive Director. “It’s important for our donors to know that they make a direct impact on the care received every day, and these two pieces of equipment make a big difference to those who entrust us with their care.”
The Foundation will provide the grants again in 2022 and anyone wanting more information about Madelia Health Foundation or how to support equipment or other initiatives can go to: https://www.madeliahealth.org/foundation/ or call Sara at 507-642-5224.
