February SHOUT-OUTs

The Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic (MCHC) started a new staff SHOUT-OUT recognition program for all caregivers last month. Staff members are encouraged to recognize their co-workers for doing exemplary work, going above and beyond for our patients and coworkers, or just being a positive person to work with. All nominees will receive a treat in recognition of their SHOUT-OUT.  At the end of each month the names of the SHOUT-OUT recipients are put in a drawing for the MCHC Caregiver of the Month. The winner receives a gift card plus the honor of parking in the Caregiver of the Month parking spot.

In February there were 41 SHOUT-OUTS given in both Madelia and Lake Crystal locations! The winner of the employee of the month in February was Licensed Practical Nurse Kayla Firchau. Kayla and three of her fellow nurses – Tasha Hollerich, Danette Firchau, and Teresa Lange – were nominated by Dr. Marc Wilkinson. Dr. Wilkinson states: “I just wanted to express my appreciation for a wonderful act of kindness that was performed recently for one of our patients by Kayla, Tasha, Danette and Teresa. On their own time and with the patient’s consent, they went into the patient’s home to make preparations for her return. This allowed the patient to be successful in her continued recovery after discharge from the hospital. It is an honor to work with such wonderful caregivers whose compassion and skill provide so much benefit to our patients. They exemplify the true spirit of caring that is present throughout this organization.”

At the end of the year, the caregiver who has the most SHOUT-OUTS will be the MCHC Employee of the Year.
