Madelia, Minn. –  The winner of the Caregiver of the month in March at Madelia Health was Priscilla Flores. Priscilla has worked at Madelia Health since November, 2021, as a Technician in the Environmental Services Department. She was nominated by two of her coworkers.

They stated, “Priscilla does all of the unthinkable jobs, and doesn’t complain about doing it!!” Also, “Priscilla truly is awesome! She is so eager to help anywhere and everywhere possible. Thanks for helping with freight and kitchen duties.”

Priscilla was born in Laredo, TX and moved to Iowa as a child and then to Minnesota in 2008. She graduated from St. James High School and she just recently finished her EMT training at South Central College. Her family includes fiancé Kyle Rehbein, daughter Amelia Rehbein (8 years old) and two dogs. Priscilla likes spending time with her family, doing diamond-art crafts with her daughter, and watching movies. Listening to music is her therapy!

When asked what she liked the most about working at Madelia Health, Priscilla said, “I love that not every day is the same. Patient smiles, stories and compliments make my days at Madelia Health very special. My fellow coworkers make it fun to come to work!”

The winner of the Caregiver of the month in April was Beth Lassas. Beth has been working at Madelia Health in the Dietary Department since May, 1998. She was also nominated by two of her coworkers.

They stated, “Beth came in to cook at a moment’s notice. Thanks for feeding our patients and staff.” Also, “Beth is awesome because she takes pride in her job. She always puts patients and staff needs before her own! She is such a great team player.”

Beth grew up on a farm south of Hanska, where her mom still lives. She graduated from New Ulm High School. Beth is married to Kevin, and they have two adult children, Michelle and Ryan, and a granddaughter named Hadley. Beth enjoys taking short trips with her family, playing cards and being with Hadley. She also loves to watch the Twins, Lynx and the Timberwolves.

When asked what she likes the most about working at Madelia Health, Beth said “I have been here 24 years and you get to know everyone here like family. Everyone is helpful and pitches in when we are short staffed.”

Madelia Health staff members are encouraged to recognize their co-workers with SHOUT-OUTS for doing exemplary work, going above and beyond for our patients and coworkers, or just being a positive person to work with. All nominees receive a treat in recognition of their SHOUT-OUT. At the end of each month the names of the SHOUT-OUT recipients are put in a drawing for the Caregiver of the Month. The winner receives a gift card plus the honor of parking in the Caregiver of the Month parking spot. At the end of the year, the caregiver who has the most SHOUT-OUTS will be the Employee of the Year for Madelia Health.
