Caregivers of the Month for January and February 2022
Madelia, Minn. – The winner of the Caregiver of the month in January at Madelia Health was Brandon Miller. Brandon has worked at Madelia Health since August, 2015, as a Registered Nurse in the Hospital. He was nominated by his Nursing Department coworkers.
They stated, “Brandon rode with a patient in the ambulance all the way to the Twin Cities and returned back long after his shift ended!!”
Brandon has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Minnesota State University-Mankato. He and his wife, Molly, have four daughters – Emma, Elle, Everley and Enora. Brandon grew up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and his hobbies include hunting and fishing.
When asked what he liked the most about working at Madelia Health, Brandon said, “Working with a great team and the diversity of the work. Every day is slightly different depending on if I am working in the Operating Room, Emergency Room, charge nurse or floor nurse.”
The winner of the Caregiver of the month in February was Sarah Jones. Sarah has been working at Madelia Health in the Physical Therapy Department since March, 2015. She was nominated by her coworker, Occupational Therapist Lori Wehrwein.
Lori stated, “Sarah Jones is always willing to help me out with various Occupational Therapy projects and she goes over and above her normal work duties.
Sarah grew up in Mankato and is a graduate of Minnesota Valley Lutheran (MVL). She attended South Central College and is a certified Phlebotomist, but for this job she has really learned the position as she worked. Sarah is married to Ezra and their family includes a daughter, Cora, a son, Harrison and a dog named Hart. She enjoys any activity that she can do with her friends and family.
When asked what she likes the most about working at Madelia Health, Sarah had a big list, including: “Seeing our patients getting better. Friendly coworkers. Working in a small department where we are close at work and outside of work. Getting to know the people in this community better so that I can call them by name. Also, I have the best boss I could ask for – she is flexible with my schedule and allows me to learn and grow in this position.”
Madelia Health staff members are encouraged to recognize their co-workers with SHOUT-OUTS for doing exemplary work, going above and beyond for our patients and coworkers, or just being a positive person to work with. All nominees receive a treat in recognition of their SHOUT-OUT. At the end of each month the names of the SHOUT-OUT recipients are put in a drawing for the Caregiver of the Month. The winner receives a gift card plus the honor of parking in the Caregiver of the Month parking spot. At the end of the year, the caregiver who has the most SHOUT-OUTS will be the Employee of the Year for Madelia Health.
