Caregivers of the Month for May and June
Madelia, Minn. – The winner of the Caregiver of the month in May at Madelia Health was Alice Ploghoft. Alice has worked at Madelia Health since December 2015, as a Medical Lab Technician (MLT). She was nominated by Jessica Norman, Laboratory Manager.
Jessica stated, “Alice took charge of the new Chemistry Analyzer and helped to get it up and running. She is always willing to fill in on call when other lab employees are ill.”
Alice grew up in Nicollet and went to college at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Utah after high school. She met and married her husband and they had two kids before they moved back to Lake Crystal. Her husband is Mark, and they have a daughter, Eliza, and two sons, Joshua and Nathan.
Alice has a bachelor of science degree in Microbiology from BYU, and went back to school when her kids were older to train as a Medical Lab Technician at South Central College in North Mankato.
Alice’s favorite past times are being outside, having picnics and hiking, going to museums and exploring new places. She enjoys art, music, and watching mysteries with her husband.
When asked what she liked the most about working at Madelia Health, Alice said, “I like that we are small enough to know everybody. I like that we have a cooperative and friendly vibe here among our coworkers and departments. Our input is valued as we look for ways to improve processes and patient experience at Madelia Health. I also like that we are always celebrating things and having cake!”
The winner of the Caregiver of the month in June was Crystal Suiter. Crystal has been working at Madelia Health since May, 2022, splitting her time between Human Resources, Marketing, and Materials Management. She was nominated by Ashley Urevig and Dana Timm for her work in the Materials Management department.
Ashley stated, “Thanks for all you are doing in the Materials Department. You are doing a great job!” Dana stated, “You are rockin’ your role in the Materials Management department and have been doing a great job getting things organized and ordered! Great job!”
Crystal was born in Las Vegas, but has lived most of her life in Madelia. She graduated from Madelia High School and has a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Marketing from Minnesota State University-Mankato.
When asked what she likes the most about working at Madelia Health, Crystal said “I enjoy being on the Madelia Health team, making a difference in our community. Everyone is very friendly and has supported me on my new journey here.”
Madelia Health staff members are encouraged to recognize their co-workers with SHOUT-OUTS for doing exemplary work, going above and beyond for our patients and coworkers, or just being a positive person to work with. All nominees receive a treat in recognition of their SHOUT-OUT. At the end of each month the names of the SHOUT-OUT recipients are put in a drawing for the Caregiver of the Month. The winner receives a gift card plus the honor of parking in the Caregiver of the Month parking spot. At the end of the year, the caregiver who has the most SHOUT-OUTS will be the Employee of the Year for Madelia Health.
