Pizza & Pints Trivia Night Promotes Colorectal Cancer Awareness
MADELIA, MN – The Madelia Health Foundation hosted a lively and educational Pizza & Pints Trivia Night at Lost Sanity Brewing on Friday, March 20th, bringing community members together to support colorectal cancer awareness. The evening featured delicious pizza from K Marie’s Pizzeria, engaging trivia, and meaningful conversations about prevention, screening, and honoring loved ones affected by colorectal cancer.
The Foundation welcomed eight teams who competed in a close and spirited trivia competition. Team “March Madness” — Andy Hennis, Bonnie Hennis, and Lila Helget — claimed first place by just one point. Second place resulted in a tie, ultimately decided with a fun and memorable round of rock, paper, scissors. Scores remained tight throughout the evening, highlighting a strong field of competitors.
The final trivia category focused on colorectal cancer awareness, encouraging teams to dive into the educational materials provided by the Colon Cancer Coalition, who also supplied stickers, bracelets, coasters, and informational resources. Several participants attended in memory of loved ones, adding heartfelt meaning to the event. Host Allie Kiecker shared personal insights about recognizing symptoms and staying up to date on screenings — a central message of the evening.
Although the event was not designed as a fundraiser, it succeeded as a powerful opportunity to promote awareness and encourage early detection. Lost Sanity Brewing provided a welcoming atmosphere, and K Marie’s ensured that all pre‑ordered pizzas arrived before the first trivia question was asked. The positive energy was evident, with several teams asking when the next trivia night will be held.
In addition to celebrating the success of Pizza & Pints, the Madelia Health Foundation is preparing for upcoming community education events:

- May Awareness Theme: Stroke Awareness, with caregivers educating youth on symptoms and how to respond in emergency situations.
