Madelia, Minn. – The Madelia Health Foundation 17th Annual Golf Outing was held on Wednesday, June 8th.  Since bringing back in-person golfing in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic, this tournament has been extremely popular and highly successful for Madelia Health. Seventy-two golfers, a full roster, were on the course in support of Madelia Health. The golf outing raised over $18,900, the most in our history for this event! The proceeds will be used to purchase new cardiac monitoring equipment.

Christensen Communications Company, Eide Bailly, Hopman Farms, Industrial Construction Services, Inc., Kraus-Anderson, and Voya Financial were top level Event Sponsors.  Alliance Bank and Sorenson True Value were the Clubhouse Sponsors. There were seven Hole Sponsors, nine Hole Co-sponsors, and over 20 volunteers from the Madelia Health Governing Board, Foundation Board, caregivers and the community. Many others donated to the event. The evening included nine holes of golf, hole-in-one and flag contests, a golf ball roll contest, prize raffle and a dinner.

The Golden Bedpan Golf Ball Roll started out the evening and was sponsored by Christensen Communications Company. Norma Krumwiede was the winner of the $500 prize! Flag contest winners from this year’s outing were as follows: Longest Putt: Steve Cooling; Closest to the pin: David Krause; Women’s Longest Drive: Laura Sorenson; Men’s Longest Drive: Carson Wihlm. The Hole-in-One Contest was again held on Hole 8. No one was able to claim the prize – $25,000 towards a Ford vehicle, sponsored by Madelia Ford and Pioneer Bank. Adding to the success of the event was a great raffle with amazing prizes including a Yeti Cooler (won by Denny Wanzek), One Free Beer a Week for a Year at Lost Sanity Brewing (won by Denny Wanzek) a unique fire pit made by Industrial Fabrication Services, Inc. in Lake Crystal (won by Dr. Nicolas Castillo) and an XL Padded Outdoor Chair (won by Hailey Thomas).

The Foundation awarded cash prizes to the first, ninth and sixteenth place teams. The First Place Team was Team Cerny (Dave Cerny, Denny Wanzek, Randy Faber and Austin Hopwood). The 9th Place team was Industrial Fabrication Services Inc. (Steve Lueck, Nate Hinicker, Brian Tryhus and Ian Carleton), and the 16th Place Team was Hopman Farms (Jim and Amy Hopman with Tom and Linda Kunz).

Thank you to the many businesses and individuals who donated to make this event successful! A special thanks to Tony Downs Food for donating the chicken breasts for the dinner and Madelia Health Dietary for making the meal. It was a fantastic night on the course with humor, great weather, camaraderie and impressive golf.
