16th Annual Madelia Health Golf Outing Best on Record

The Madelia Health Foundation 16th Annual Golf Outing was held on Tuesday, June 2nd.  The event was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the tournament was back and better than ever this year. 84 people participated in the golfing. The Foundation raised over $14,700, the most in our history for this event. The proceeds will be used to support our growing surgical services offerings at Madelia Health.

Christensen Communications Company, Alliance Bank and Sorenson True Value were the Clubhouse Sponsors. There were nine hole sponsors, ten hole co-sponsors, and over 20 volunteers from the Madelia Health Governing Board, Foundation Board, caregivers and the community. Many others donated to the event. The event included nine holes of golf, hole-in-one and flag contests, a golf ball roll contest, raffle, door prizes, and a dinner.

The Golden Bedpan Golf Ball Roll started out the evening and was sponsored by Christensen Communications. Kenzie Drexler was the winner of the $500 prize! Flag contest winners from this year’s outing were as follows: Longest Putt: Jordan Henry; Closest to the pin: Rob Piepgras; Women’s Longest Drive: Jane Malmskog; Men’s Longest Drive: Aaron Black; On the Green for Half the Pot: Brian McCabe. The “Hole In One” Contest was again held on Hole 8, but no one was able to claim the $25,000 toward a Ford vehicle, sponsored by Madelia Ford and Pioneer Bank. Pioneer Bank provided additional fun with guessing games at Hole #8. Players guessed how much money was in a jar and how many coins were in a jar.   Robbie Piepgras won for closest to the dollar for the money ($143 total) and Garrett Freeman won for guessing closest to the total amount of coins (1,200 coins).

The Foundation awarded cash prizes to the first, ninth and eighteenth place teams. The First Place Team was Team McCabe. The 9th Place team was American Family Insurance Brian McCabe Agency, and the 18th Place Team was House of Print.

Adding to the success of the event was a great raffle with amazing prizes including a flat screen TV, Yeti Cooler, One Free Beer a Week for a Year at Lost Sanity Brewing and a unique fire pit made by Industrial Fabrication in Lake Crystal. Thank you to the many businesses and individuals who donated items for the raffle and door prizes. A special thanks to Tony Downs Food for donating the chicken breasts for the dinner, to Sweet! Indeed for donating the cookies and to Madelia Health Dietary for making the meal. It was a fantastic evening!
