Top 20 Critical Access Hospital Award Received
Madelia, Minn. – Madelia Health received their Top 20 Critical Access Hospital award from the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) recently. The award was supposed to be presented at the NRHA’s Critical Access Hospital Conference in Kansas City in September, but the ceremony was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Shown holding the award are Megan Gossman, RN, Infection Prevention/Employee Health, and Jamie Hitchcock, DPT, Director of Physical Therapy. They had planned to attend the event in Kansas City to accept the award on behalf of all Madelia Health caregivers.
Award recipients were determined through surveys conducted by the Chartis Center for Rural Health. Madelia Health was recognized for achieving success in the Patient Experience index, a rating of performance ranked across ten domains of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS). HCAHPS (pronounced “H-caps”) is a survey instrument and data collection method for measuring patients’ perceptions of their hospital experience. The Chartis Group distributes and tabulates the surveys to produce comparable data that is objective and allows for meaningful comparisons between hospitals. Madelia Health was the only Minnesota Critical Access Hospital to be recognized in this category this year.
“We are so proud to be receiving this award for the second consecutive year,” said Roz Snyder, Chief Clinical Officer (CCO). “Our caregivers and providers give outstanding care and they should be proud of this prestigious recognition.”
NRHA is a nonprofit organization working to improve the health and wellbeing of rural Americans and providing leadership on rural health issues through advocacy, communications, education and research.
