MADELIA, MN – Madelia Health is excited to announce the availability of Low-Dose Lung Cancer Screening CT (LDCT), a breakthrough screening tool for early detection of lung cancer in high-risk individuals. This quick, painless exam can detect lung cancer at its earliest stages when treatment is most effective, significantly improving survival rates.

“Early detection is key in the fight against lung cancer,” said Melissa Hunt, Director of Imaging at Madelia Health. “With this new screening, we can identify lung cancer before symptoms appear, offering patients a much greater chance at successful treatment.”

Who is eligible?

This screening is recommended for individuals who are between the ages of 50-80, current or former smokers (that have quit within the last 15 years), have a 20 pack-year smoking history (e.g., one pack per day for 20 years or two packs per day for 10 years), and have no current symptoms of lung cancer. The LCDT exam takes less than 10 minutes, requires no contrast, and uses significantly lower radiation doses than a standard CT scan. Medicare and most insurance plans cover the screening for eligible patients.

How to get screened?

A physician’s referral is required. If you or a loved one may qualify, speak with your healthcare provider about this life-saving screening today. For more information, please contact Madelia Health at 507-642-3255 or visit https://madeliahealth.org.
