Flu Shot Clinic

It is important to protect yourself from the seasonal flu by getting your annual flu shot. This year, we are encouraging people to get their flu shot sooner, rather than later. You should get a flu vaccine before flu viruses begins spreading in your community, since it takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against flu.

In Madelia, we will be offering Drive Thru Flu Shots at the Ambulance Base so patients don’t even have to leave their vehicles. Simply drive up to the 106 Drew Avenue location and watch for signs.  If you can, please fill out our registration form before you come (above). No appointments are  necessary for this flu shot clinic.

MADELIA
106 Drew Ave. S.E., at the Ambulance Base across the street from Madelia Health
Thursday, September 19th from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wednesday, October 2nd from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Flu vaccinations are also available at Madelia Health clinics in St. James, Lake Crystal, and Truman. If this day doesn’t work out for you or your family members, you can just schedule a vaccination-only appointment at any of our clinic locations, or the shot can be given during a regular clinic visit. The Lake Crystal Pharmacy offers walk-in flu shots without an appointment.

Getting a flu shot prevents you from passing the virus to people in high-risk populations like babies, pregnant women, elderly people, and people who have chronic diseases. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that everyone six months of age and older get vaccinated every flu season.

Influenza and COVID-19 are both contagious respiratory illnesses caused by viruses that can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The signs and symptoms of the flu and COVID-19 are very similar. Seasonal flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Symptoms of COVID-19 can include fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, headache, muscle pain, sore throat, fatigue, congestion, or loss of taste or smell. Other less common symptoms of COVID-19 include gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Your best source of information on the spread of the flu and COVID-19 are the websites of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and/or the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
